This picture was set in the law quad, specifically the passageway that connects the quad to the rest of campus. Being set in downtown Ann Arbor the streets and pathways were bustling with college students and other passerby which made it challenging to get a photo without people or their heads in the shot. For the first image i originally caught several peoples heads in the shot so I cropped it slightly. I really enjoyed the unique tiles and lines under this arch.
This set of images was also taken at the law quad but on a more quiet side. This building reminded me of an historic library and then I found out it was indeed just that! This location made me feel very calm and peaceful. I liked how you can see the clouds at the top of some pictures and how beautiful some of the arches were at this location. The buildings shadow made it slightly difficult to photograph.
This is one of the statues at the outside of the Ann Arbor Art Museum. This statue gifted to the university makes onlookers to step back and reflect on their own inaction and ignorance. I think that this is a very powerful piece and wanted to photograph its raw beauty. There were a lot of people and sidewalks around this location so it was interesting to position the camera to conceal those distractions.
This was also taken in the law quad. This was the main entry hall and it felt whimsical and historic. I really enjoyed the window at this location, it was attracted my eye and I wanted that to be the focal point of the image. It looks so massive and almost out of reach like you would find this in a far way land. In reality this was ten minutes away from my house. This made me feel surprised that I have lived in this town my whole life and have never seen this location.
This was another sculpture at the U of M campus. This sculpture confused me and finding its purpose was difficult. Maybe having a mysterious purpose is the point, if so I think that the concept is creative. This location had a lot of sidewalks so it was frustrating try to photograph this sculpture. I tried to create angles where the sculpture covered up the sidewalks and tried ti get closer to conceal what was behind the sculpture that might have been distracting.
